Before the competition even began... The glow of red lights illuminated a packed crowd from wall to gothic chic wall of Dusk, Providence. Each band seemed to have drawn their best fans and friends for support, adding electricity to the already heated competition. First up, Royal Street took the stage. Their fierce female lead did not disappoint as she belted out each song to an eager audience. Next to perform Space Pony only took the competition up a notch. Their lead singer and guitarist's energy rivaled that of the infamous energizer bunny. Jumping, dancing, playing and singing from start to finish and never missing a beat in the process. Lastly the 6 piece juggernaut Most Dangerous Men Alive, lived up to the competition and then some. Before starting they warmed up with a round of shots and the party continued throughout as the band even pulled audience members to the stage to sing along. After the judges deliberation it was Most Dangerous Men Alive that came out as the night's victor, moving on to join We Were Astronauts in the final round. (On a side note this may have been the most challenging venue I have ever shot. All red lighting and the dark eerie atmosphere makes for a great live ambiance but is tough for photos. Between that and the sardine packed crowd, I had my work cut out for me. I want to thank Royal Street, Space Pony, and Most Dangerous Men Alive for tolerating me on the stage and in their faces to get the shot. They were all amazing. Also a big thanks to Rick the owner of Dusk for letting me climb on his bar.)
