Walking up to Lupos Wednesday night for The Chainsmokers show, I was surprised to see there wasn’t a line of people waiting for the doors. Upon entering there was music playing but only a handful of people stood inside, lined up along the front of the stage.
I took a seat against the side of the room as the opening DJ, Saun Frank manned the spin tables. As the rumble of a steady bass line rattled through me, I watched the crowd slowly but surely begin to fill the floor. One by one, enthusiastic EDM lovers decked in rave gear, bikinis, fur boots, face paint and glitter filed in, eager to lose themselves in their love for house music.
By the time the headliner took the stage the floor was packed with a high-energy crowd ready for The Chainsmokers to spin their greatest hits. The New York city based DJ duo did not disappoint. Drew and Alex took to the turntables like they were having the time of their lives. They entertained the crowd from beginning to end. Spinning todays most popular tracks combined with their own hits like my personal favorite, “Kanye” and their love it or hate it hit “#SELFIE”.
The handsome pair put on a high energy set keeping us all engaged by climbing on the staging, throwing shirts into the audience and fearlessly throwing themselves off the stage into a crowd of ecstatic young fans. Not a single person was ready for the party to end when they wrapped up the night. Music well spun.
